North East Alliance for Population Health

What is a North East Alliance for Population Health?

The definition of an alliance is a union or association formed for mutual benefit. The North East Alliance for Population Health brings together public leaders from:

Aberdeen City Council

Aberdeenshire Council

Moray Council

Police Scotland

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

Scottish Ambulance Service

NHS Grampian.

Health and Social Care Moray

Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership

Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership

The North East Alliance for Population Health has a vision to have flourishing communities, living fulfilled lives.

We have a  joint commitment that: together we will share collective responsibility for the durability of the North East.

Why do we need an Alliance?

There is recognition that by working together, we are stronger, more resourceful and can have greater impact. There is mutual benefit in working together and collaborating to deliver change and improve lives.

What will the Alliance do?

The Alliance creates a forum for leaders to discuss and debate areas or issues that are affecting the North East population and the places we live in.

It is not a governance group, rather it is a space for exploring, hearing different perspectives, challenging each other, finding solutions and trying things at scale and pace. The North East Alliance is keen to learn together and from each other. Leaders all have different contributions to make, having an Alliance brings all the expertise and experience to the table.

Leaders have agreed to work within a set of principles which outline what they will commit to in terms of using their position, on behalf of their organisation, within the context of working in a North East Family and to help sustain efforts over time.  The principles are:

Four Pillars of Population Health

To develop a shared understanding and coherent action we are proposing to use the King’s Fund four pillars of population health as a framework for action to improve population health. As a North East Alliance we will identify the areas that we need to work on together to deliver the pace and scale of change required alongside local incremental changes that could have a significant collective impact. Using this approach, we hope to connect central policy making with local realities.
