Adult Autism Assessment Team

We recruited to the Adult Autism Assessment Team at the end of 2020.  The team are working hard to make sure that we develop a sustainable pathway for autism assessment, given the limited work time we have each week (4 hours).  We need to open referrals in a phased way and will start with referrals from secondary care community mental health teams and GPs, then widen this to other agencies by summer 2021.  In order to protect capacity of clinical staff during the pandemic, we will accept self-referrals into the team.

Scottish Ambulance Service – Our Strategy 2020 – 2030

The Scottish Ambulance Service is unique within the Health and Social Care system in Scotland, providing a national front line clinical service, delivered locally in peoples’ homes and communities throughout Scotland, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This means that we engage with all GP practices, every Health and Social Care Partnership and all NHS boards to support the effective delivery of high quality care.

As a result, we believe we have enormous potential to play a significantly enhanced role in the future of health and social care provision, by working collaboratively with the public, NHS Boards, Health & Social Care Partnerships and the voluntary sector around how we plan and provide safe, effective and person-centred health and care for the people of Scotland back in line with Government policies.

We are currently preparing a new strategy for the next 10 years and we would like to get your views on what you would like us to focus on and what we should prioritise.

Aberdeenshire Council “clean-sheet” review of subsidised transport: A Consultation

28/10/2019 Aberdeenshire Council is undertaking a ‘clean-sheet’ review of the local bus, and dial-a-bus, services that it financially supports, to assist the decision-making on how to prioritise spend. The consultation focuses on ascertaining views on how best to provide supported bus services and can be completed as individuals or on behalf of an organisation.

We want to hear from as wide an audience as possible in order to help the Council understand the areas where provision of bus services is affecting people’s ability to access key destinations and activities

The consultation closes on Monday 9th December 2019. To find out more click here or contact public.transport@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

13/09/2019 This consultation is focussed on the role of public sector bodies in ending Scotland’s contribution to climate change, how the Public Sector Climate Change Reporting Duties should be revised to support that, and how Scottish Government and the wider public sector can work together to make a step-change in delivery.

We want to hear from public bodies, but we also want to hear from other organisations and individuals about what you think public sector bodies should be doing to tackle climate change.

The consultation closes on the 4th December 2019. To find out more Click Here. Or contact climate.change@gov.scot

Launch of new travel research grants in physical activity for healthier lives

15/08/2019 This summer a new grant scheme to encourage healthier living through physical activity has been launched, thanks to a new partnership between the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and ukactive. Churchill Fellowships will be available for professionals in this growing area, and others, for non-academic studies of the best ideas and practice to be found anywhere in the world. Applications can be made at www.wcmt.org.uk until 17 September 2019.

The new category of Churchill Fellowships will be devoted to Physical activity: making moves for healthy lives. They will fund Fellows to explore new ways to encourage everyone to take up and enjoy physical activity in order to benefit their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Applications are particularly encouraged that explore using sport, exercise or physical activity as a vehicle to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities, whether in community-led programmes, for children and young people, for workplace wellbeing or for active ageing. Churchill Fellowships are travel grants that fund dedicated and dynamic individuals to research innovative ideas and best practice overseas, then bring their global insights back to the UK and make change happen in their professions and communities.

Can you help influence the long term vision for transport in the North East?

20/02/2019 Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership for the North East of Scotland, is looking for your input to help shape the next Regional Transport Strategy (RTS). The partnership has a statutory duty to produce and deliver an RTS to set the vision and direction for transport in the region for the next 20 years.

With the opening of the AWPR and some of the essential rail upgrades underway, a significant proportion of the current RTS has been achieved and it feels that the time is right to look ahead to the future, building on the investment that has already been made and shifting the focus to thinking about how we are going to make best use of new and developing infrastructure, with greater emphasis on issues such as climate change, equality, health and technology.

Nestrans Chairman, Councillor Peter Argyle, “We are just at the start of this process and keen to give stakeholders, businesses and the public the opportunity to be involved in and shape the directions of the next RTS which will guide transport investment in the North East over the next 20 years. The vision of the next RTS is to provide a cleaner, more resilient, inclusive and accessible transport system in the north east, which contributes to improved quality of life through healthier, more prosperous and fairer communities.”

The new strategy will be structured around four key pillars each with equal weighting and which provide a common link to the National Transport Strategy, which is being carried out by the Scottish Government in 2019.

The four pillars are:

  • Helping the north east economy prosper
  • Improving health and wellbeing across the North East
  • Taking action to reduce impact on climate change and protect the natural and built environment of the north east
  • Promoting equality across the North East

Nestrans will be working with partners during 2019 to develop policies under each of these pillars and welcome input from businesses and communities in this process.  A website has been created, Nestrans2040.org.uk, which will be the focus of all the consultation and engagement activities on the developing strategy. All interested parties are encouraged to view the site and share their views, comment and help influence the long term vision for transport in the North East.
