safeTALK
Main Aim
Intended as ‘Suicide Awareness’ training is delivered locally by a network of validated trainers under the umbrella organisation ‘Choose Life – Suicide Prevention in Scotland’.
The training is designed for communities or organisations that already have ASIST trained helpers in place, to maximise intervention as the main suicide prevention focus.
Who is this for?
This course is available for anyone 16 years and over.
Learning Outcomes
- Gain confidence in providing practical assistance to people with suicidal thoughts and to activate a ‘suicide alert’ by following the ‘TALK’ (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep Safe) steps.
- Identify signs of suicide intent
- How to communicate with a person at suicide risk
- How to connect through to intervention resources
Course Length
Half day programme (usually 3.5 hours) and delivered one trainer to groups of up to thirty participants.

There are no set dates, as this course can be requested.
