Maternal Obesity

Figure 33 below illustrates that levels of maternal obesity are much higher in the most deprived quintile than in the least deprived quintile, but are increasing everywhere.

Figure 34 shows that the proportion of women smoking during pregnancy is considerably higher in the most deprived quintile at 25% compared to only 4% in the least deprived quintile. Figure 31 demonstrates that a substantial decrease was recorded between 2003 and 2009 but little improvement has been made since then.
