Introduction

The Respiratory MCN is a multidisciplinary group that brings together representatives from across health and social care and the third sector to improve the quality of care and support for people living with respiratory conditions in Grampian.

What Do We Do?

Our Network is made up of individuals representing organisations who want to work with us to achieve improvements in the health and wellbeing of the Grampian population.  Generally, in our MCN there is representation from NHS Grampian, Health and Social Care Partnerships and Third Sector.

The ‘management’ of this MCN is delivered by the Respiratory Steering Group who help to coordinate and support strategic and operational activities.  The members all have distinct roles, some also have a role in national groups, but together we work collectively under the umbrella of the MCN.

The role of the Steering Group is to influence policy and services and to ensure all aspects of respiratory service developments throughout NHS Grampian are of the highest quality.

What Are Our Priorities

  • To provide high-level strategic guidance to NHS Grampian including development of a Strategy for Respiratory Services.
  • Work with regional and national planning groups as appropriate.
  • To progress work on priority issues identified in NHS Grampian and through regional and national planning groups.
  • To ensure a coherent and equitable approach is taken to the development of respiratory services across NHS Grampian, taking account of local and national priorities.
  • To agree and review annual workplan and other networks/services.
  • To review available data and report to Clinical OMT.
  • To ensure adequate two-way communication and accountability between local and national MCNs and other NHS Boards.

Educational Events

One of the key goals of the Respiratory MCN is to offer education and learning opportunities to support our informed and knowledgeable health & care colleagues to continue to offer the best levels of care to those requiring care for respiratory conditionsAs part of this objective, the MCN organises an annual conference as well as several evening education roadshows, and an online winter conference to support the professional development of our colleagues and partners.

The Grampian Respiratory MCN Professional Conference is designed to enhance knowledge and skills while providing attendees with the opportunity and space for networking, where both challenges and successes in respiratory can be shared and learned from.
